New Hope will present an Easter Production in all three weekend services April 7/8, 2012. Aided with live technical artists, the production will retell the story of Christ's death and resurrection through choral music and dramatic scenes. Through set design, first-century Jerusalem will come to life in our Sanctuary so we might better re-experience the story of Easter. This massive task is only possible through many volunteers joining together for a common cause.

How Will You Get Involved?
Behind the Scenes
If the idea of being in front of people makes you sick to your stomach, we'd love to use you in behind-the-scenes service. Not only does this include stagehands who operate backstage special effects and sound and lighting directors, but there is huge need for behind-the-scenes help before the show even begins. Here are a few: creating and organizing costumes, set construction (actual construction experience preferred), set decorating and design, focusing ("aiming") lights, and more. If you're interested in helping in behind the scenes ministry, please email Pastor Adam

Choir
This Easter Production is driven by a strong choir, who will be dressed in "Bible Times" costumes. Choir members will not necessarially be actors, but singing while in costume will help create the first century Jerusalem setting. The only acting expected of all choir members is looking like you mean what you're saying (i.e. we won't be smiling during the crucifixion). The Easter Production choir is open to singers in the 6th grade up through adults of all ages.
If you're interesting in singing in the choir, show up at the church at 4 p.m. on January 29 for our first rehearsal! It will last until 6 p.m.(you may also do drama). Choir rehearsals will be Sunday nights starting January 29 from 4-6 p.m. See below for a complete schedule.
Drama
This Easter Production will come to life with the dramatic scenes from scripture. Pharisees will discuss the so-called "Messiah" and arrogantly gloat over "sinners." A narrating storyteller will guide the audience through the historical journey. Jesus will be hung on a cross and be resurrected. Crowds will make us feel like we are in first century Jerusalem. The time committment for actors will vary depending on the part, but most rehearsals will be on Sundays during/after choir practices.

FAQ: Is there Childcare?
Yea, kind of. We are not having an extra Sunday School class during rehearsals, but what we have is a little more like "corporate group babysitting." There will be people we trust available to take care of kids - and we ask everyone who uses them to pitch in a couple bucks to pay them for watching their kids. Currently, we are only planning on having this during choir rehearsals. If you have need for babysitting during drama rehearsals, please let us know.
