What Should I Expect?

Visiting a new church can feel like a big step — especially if you don’t know what to expect. That’s why we’ve put together some quick answers to common questions, so you can feel confident before you ever walk through the doors.

Whether you’re coming to our South Auburn or Waterloo location, we want you to know this: you’re welcome here. We’re a community of people from all walks of life who are learning to follow Jesus together. No pressure. No pretending. Just real people, finding real hope.

  • What should I wear?

Come as you are - jeans, shorts, ties. We see it all. We are generally more casual.

  • What’s it like when I arrive?

We hope you grab a cup of coffee, say hello to someone, and find a seat! If you have questions, there are people on Sundays wearing lanyards ready to help you.

  • What’s a service like?

Service starts with a few songs led by our band, followed by a sermon from one of our pastors that will either appear on stage in-person or through video message. Services last about one hour - and we end every service with an opportunity to receive prayer.

  • What about my kids?

They’ll love it. We offer engaging programs for children from birth through 5th grade during every Sunday morning service. Middle and High School students are encouraged to join the main service—we believe they’re not just the church of tomorrow, but the church of right now. New Hope Teens meets at other times.
